For our #flowcytometry peeps, would you like to have a single fix/perm protocol that is optimised for everything? One that preserves fluorophores while allowing simultaneous TF and cytokine staining? How about 100-fold cheaper?

You got it:

Our researchers have created the first high-res map of the lung airway wall, revealing how cell organisation & interactions are disrupted in asthma 🫁

Published in @natimmunol.nature.com, it's a key step towards understanding the mechanisms that drive the disease

👉 What’s next? We’re diving deeper into the makeup and function of these ecosystems, exploring how treatments—and other lung diseases—reshape them.

Huge thanks to our funders @wellcometrust.bsky.social , @BHF CRE, @ACTERIA and @BRCimperial

🧪 How’s this regulated? Mast cells play a starring role—expressing proteases, amphiregulin, and more. We also found a unique endothelial cell subpopulation expressing ACKR1, which may help retain chemokines locally and structure these immune hubs.
regisjoulia.bsky.social
🔬 In asthma lungs, the landscape shifts: chemokine and alarmin expression drops, but cells are packed more tightly together, forming larger, altered ecosystems. Multiple stromal cell profiles are disrupted, creating a very different immune environment.
regisjoulia.bsky.social
What did we discover? Using single-cell spatial transcriptomics on human lung biopsies, we identified distinct "cellular ecosystems"—specialised microenvironments packed with inflammatory potential. We mapped out which cells produce key chemokines and alarmins, and how tightly they interact.
