De-alcoholised wine is looking like being another stumble down a blind alley for the wine trade. We’re basically building a pot-holed off-ramp. And it’s got me mixing my metaphors.

“My advice to wine drinkers wishing to cut down their alcohol intake is to find a non-alcoholic drink that they like”
De-alcoholised wine is a poor substitute for the real thing. But there are one or two palatable alternatives.

Good thread.
Days like this are a stark reminder that the UK undertook Brexit at historically the worst possible moment. Bloc politics is here to stay and fiddlearsing about with 2mm advances towards smoother customs arrangements with the EU is not the leadership Britain needs.

I can remember when it used to be exciting to see a satellite moving across the night sky.
By 2040, ~40% of the images from Hubble Space Telescope, and more than 96% from new and future space telescopes like SPHEREx, ARRAKIHS, and Xuntian will be contaminated by internet satellite constellations.

‘I thought the grownups were back in charge!’: John Crace on how Labour shattered his expectations
After 14 years of Tory rule, the Guardian’s parliamentary sketch writer thought he had seen it all. Westminster would surely tick along nicely once Keir Starmer’s party took over. How wrong he was ...

1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️
