pathetic. i hope the EU rebuffs the UK. this is another attempt to have the EU without any of the rules.

it's time the UK woke up that it is a mid sized country, not a world power, and the US is not an ally of the UK.

indeed, we're very alone.

This is a very good, measured piece on why and immigration "liberals" often (but shouldn't) exaggerate/overegg the evidence on the positive impacts of immigration.

whilst i actually believe he is being sincere, Starmer and his government have very little meaningful influence over the "cost of living".

what he could be doing instead is trying to make people more affluent, coming at the "affordability" problem from an income perspective, rather than a cost one.
Keir Starmer: "What happens on the world stage matters directly to people here at home. It shapes the price of food, job security, and the cost of energy.

That’s why helping British people with the cost of living is my top priority."

🚨MAGA IMMEDIATELY regrets calling Jack Smith to testify as he reaffirms Trump’s 100% GUILT:

SMITH: The evidence established…Trump engaged in a criminal scheme to overturn the 2024 results…and illegally kept classified documents…in a bathroom." BOOM.

funny, Trump, when he finds out how humiliating it is for him to back down like this, will attempt - and fail - to sack Mark Rutte.

what happens then will require a lot of drinks...

the US has a track record of isolationism fuelled by a perception of exceptionalism, but i don't think i ever expected to see it so obviously burning its soft power around the world.

the WHO will survive, but US scientists and orgs will suffer hugely.

then there's the next pandemic coming...

#8 is hugely funny. i can only imaging the "big reveal" after the winner was announced.

got quite the voice too. my mother was a big fan and because of multi-multi listens, i think i can sing along to nearly all of Dolly's songs pre-1980!!!

i wonder what the UK govt thinks. seismic world events are unfolding on both our doorsteps and the UK is a complete bystander, unable to influence the outcome, despite being directly affected by it.

the "Special Relationship" is dead. no longer an EU member.

the sun has set on the British Empire.

So, same as Canadians.

a remarkable article. archive.ph/5FgcS

essentially the UK should become a vassal state to the US.

yet he points out the times previously where the US has either abandoned or undermined the UK.

so #brexit made the UK much less useful to the US, but then he goes on to say: "They can defend us now".

The dugong or “sea cow” is a large, gentle marine mammal that lives in warm coastal waters of the Indo-Pacific, grazing peacefully on seagrass, much like cows graze on land, and is a relative of the manatee. 😊

And you reckoned you didn't understand differential equations. The world may not be as complex as you think.
Financial assets grow exponentially in value because that is the integral of constant percentage growth, of the differential equation f'=kf ... and constant growth is what you might reasonably expect of, say, a business internally generating returns ~proportional to its current size. All good.

and yet Trump incited a riot to attempt to take over US Congress, and all we got was a much angrier president hell-bent on revenge.
A South Korean court has ruled that the 2024 imposition of martial law by then-President Yoon Suk Yeol constituted an act of rebellion as it sentenced his prime minister to 23 years in prison for his involvement.

has Trump just signed the US up to be the #WorldsPoliceman ? isn't that basically the antithesis of what #MAGA want?

or will the US only intervene in countries which have exploitable oil reserves which the US can annexe?

But all the year round,
Donald Trump is a clot.

they're "wealth collectors".

the people who make and do things create "shareholder value".

which is subsequently handed over to said shareholders as "wealth".

right now the model is to maximise shareholder value as much as possible, and keep wages depressed to... maximise "shareholder value".
Brian Eno: anyone who'd leave the UK because they have to pay a bit more tax arent the least community minded

Lord Bethell: "but they are the wealth creators"

"They're not the wealth creators. The wealth creators are the people who make things.. who keep society running"

Well said Brian!
