Instead, the UK economy continued on at a slower speed, with increasing worries about how to fix the gaping hole in the public finances.

I think it’s never too late. If the people of Europe (and I include the UK in that) want to be together and collaborate and co-operate then we should find ways to make that as easy as possible. The Brexit stalemate has gone on for too long.
