We spoke to a dozen professional concept artists who are currently or have previously worked in game development about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs any easier.

Zero said it did. Most said it made things harder.

Concept Artists Say Generative AI References Only Make Their Jobs Harder
“The ‘early ideation stages’, when worlds are being fleshed out by writers and artists, are literally crucial to the development of a game’s vision,” said one artist.

The fact that the estranged adult children are framed as "ungrateful" tells you everything you need to know about these women.
Welcome to the pissed-off parent pushback: After years of therapists and others encouraging adult children to cut ties with families they deem harmful or “toxic,” estranged parents are speaking out on.wsj.com/4s49U52

Really love being back in a place where actual observable facts - the previous ASIO investigation, inadequate firearm license regulations - are able to be brushed aside in favour of re-heated culture war bullshit.

Building off @cameronwilson.bsky.social's reporting for @crikey.com.au, I highlight how we appear to have a baptist & bootleggers situation in Australia, where it appears the gambling industry was a big force behind the "social media ban for teens" in an effort to kill a plan to ban gambling ads.
Australia’s Social Media Ban Was Pushed By Ad Agency Focused On Gambling Ads It Didn’t Want Banned

We’ve talked about the Australian social media ban that went into effect last week, how dumb it is, and why it’s already a mess. But late last week, some additional news broke that makes the whole thing even more grotesque: turns out the campaign pushing hardest for the ban was run by an ad agency that makes gambling ads.

Incredible the entire press gallery is actually buying the line (promulgated by Netanyahu!) that Albanese is personally to blame for the Bondi attack.

No one is actually explaining how firing academics for opposing Israel’s genocide would stop two people who never went to uni from this shooting.

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

The unarmed man who ran towards the shooter, and grabbed his rifle was a Lebanese Muslim and an immigrant to Australia.
As Muslims are so often demonized, worth mentioning that it was a Muslim who rushed to save Jewish lives on Bondi Beach.

Cannot really begin to describe how fucking heartbreaking it is. A mass shooting in my old home.

I know the world sees Australia as a gun control best-case but that was a long time ago and the gun lobby has been winning its fight against those laws

Australia’s gun lobby says it’s ‘winning’ the fight against firearm control as numbers surge
There are now more than 4m guns in the community – almost double the number recorded in the years after the Port Arthur massacre that prompted a national crackdown

*especially* Art Direction because fucking hell, what the fuck. I have no way of knowing if genAI was used for "inspiration" for that direction now.
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is proof to me that AI will punch a hole clean through the entire art spectrum because as soon as it was used in something that made you feel something, 90% of so called critics went out of their way to go "well I think it's acceptable in this case"

Just a reminder that the US is hosting both the Olympics and the men's FIFA World Cup during this administration. It's a genuine concern what might happen to athletes and staff going there under the border policies of the current US regime.
