Did you know that six in ten abortion seekers in the United States are already parents?

They know precisely what it takes to raise a child, and often decide to have abortions to ensure they have enough resources to support their existing children.

We have NEW research on pregnancy-related prosecutions in the first two years after Dobbs, and there are surely more cases.

They show us that giving rights to fertilized eggs, embryos, and fetuses paves the way for people to be ARRESTED and PUNISHED for all pregnancy outcomes — beyond abortion.
In the two years after Dobbs, prosecutors initiated at least 412 cases charging people with crimes related to pregnancy, pregnancy loss, or birth. Prosecutors criminalized 31 people who experienced a pregnancy loss in the 2 years after Dobbs. Pregnancy related prosecutions happened in 16 states. These were the top 3: Alabama, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. Most cases involve allegations of substance use during pregnancy - 399/412

Most cases began in a medical setting - 264/412

Most cases involved the family policing system - 217/412

The terror of ICE enforcement is driving pregnant people without permanent legal status away from critical health care. State violence lives in silent suffering, in sleepless nights, and in every prenatal appointment forgone out of fear of deportation. #ImmigrantJusticeIsReproductiveJustice
ICE fears put pregnant immigrants and their babies at risk
Fear of deportation is deterring people without permanent legal status from critical care. Doctors are worried for their health — and the health of their pregnancies.

In the new @reprosfightback.bsky.social brief, Senior Fellow Preston D. Mitchum outlines the policy tools the Trump administration is using to systematically attack #LGBTQI+ lives, the communities most harmed, and the urgent need for resistance and repair: tinyurl.com/ErasureAsPolicy
Quote graphic with red, gold, and black scrapbook-style background containing scraps of paper and sunflowers. Text in a typewriter-style font reads: "We must invest in the leadership of Black and Brown trans people; support queer youth navigating systems of poverty, incarceration, and immigration; and build institutions resilient enough to withstand political backlash." The quote is attributed to Preston D. Mitchum, rePROs Fight Back Senior Fellow. At the bottom left, there are two vintage button pins, one reading “Stonewall Fight Back! Lesbian & Gay Oppression," the other reading "We Are Everywhere." A hand holds two pride flags in the bottom right.

Trump is using federal policy to systematically target LGBTQI+ folks in a strategy to delegitimize queer and trans existence. rePROs FB Senior Fellow Preston D. Mitchum outlines the tools used to carry out these attacks and the urgent need for resistance and repair: tinyurl.com/ErasureAsPolicy
Yellow, red, and black graphic with quote in typewriter font, attributed to Preston D. Mitchum: “Too often, LGBTQI+ people are celebrated only in ways that feel commercialized, sanitized, and disconnected from our history. But our liberation was born from defiance—from uprisings led by Black and Brown trans women, sex workers, and queer youth who refused to accept state violence, criminalization, and systemic exclusion.” On either side are red and yellow vintage button pins, one reading “Stonewall Fight Back! Lesbian & Gay Oppression” and another reading “Gay Liberation Now” on a fist. Along the bottom is a partial photo of Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera at a protest. Graphic sharing the new rePROs Fight Back policy brief. There is the white and purple first page of the brief, which has its title: “Erasure as Policy: The Trump Administration’s Assault on LGBTQI+ Lives.” By the title, there is a digital illustration of people holding or draped in Pride flags. We're experiencing a coordinated strategy by anti-abortion extremists to dismantle reproductive freedom nationwide. And they won’t stop at abortion—contraception and gender-affirming care are facing the same attacks, using the same strategies.
