The crisis is here.
One close Trump adviser simply says that the president’s ultimate leverage against certain judges who try to stand in the way of his agenda is that the judiciary does not command an army, while the president of the United States does.
'Move Fast': Inside Team Trump's Furious Defiance of the Courts
Donald Trump's advisers are attacking judges for daring to “control” him. Trump wants the one objecting to his deportation plans to be “IMPEACHED!!!”

This is a coup! U.S. Institute for Peace called the DC police on the Musk team members in an effort to stop them from trespassing because the institute has control of its own building and the land it sits on. But instead, the DC police allowed them to enter and kicked out the institute’s officials.

It is easy to overlook the small, but in incredibly important changes, Trump is making in our country
RIP libraries? 📚
In a new EO, Trump has targeted the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the federal agency charged with distributing congressionally approved funds to state libraries and to library, museum, & archives program grant recipients. www.everylibrary.org/statementiml...

I unironically use my local library a lot. Ebooks, audio books, physical books, the seed exchange, the meeting spaces?? Passport services?? Citizenship and English classes? I grew up in the teen hangout area as a housing insecure youth with a bad parent. Libraries are important, I'm pissed

I need people to understand that DOGE people -- all these transfers from Tesla, etc -- are making policy and program decisions that are inherently political. They are not just the claimed wunderkind tech support with laptops.

Opus was an interesting movie with interesting characters that could not really stick the landing. The plot felt eggshell thin

One of the really special things about Sesame Street was always these little art films that were less about teaching a specific thing than they were about instilling a sort of meditative sense of wonder at how the world works.
Really enjoying this classic Sesame Street segment, two minutes of freestyle jazz riffing on saxophone factory footage

Whether you like or dislike what’s said at universities, free speech is at the core of our democracy, and protecting it should be one of the core missions of universities.

Which is why America needs a new Free Speech Movement, similar to the one that broke out on college campuses 61 years ago.
Why we need a new free speech movement
And why universities should sue the Trump regime for abridging the First Amendment rights of their institutions and their students
