This is a really good point that I had not run into before: these "creators" have no further insight into their alleged creation than the average audience member and that is why it cannot be called art (besides all the other obvious reasons).

If I had one Christmas wish it would be that cis people see trans people as their brothers and sisters, children and parents. They could be any of us, they are all of us.

I’m an unremarkable person. A history of successes and failures behind me. I’m flawed. But I love all my children. All of them.

The Telegraph highlighting - yet missing - two vital points here.

1) We're not calling for £476m to be spent. It already is - this is about diverting it to actually helping.

2) Why "cruelty" in question? The £476m we're spending is part of an operation tear gassing babies.

Like, I dunno, maybe the onus should be on Uncle Dave to let the family have a single meal without his opinions on "Muzzos ruinin' London since Mayor Al'Khan'ida took over" instead of on the kids to grin and bear it?

Why is this advice always aimed at children avoiding their parents, and never at older people belligerently and inevitably regurgitating Facebook opinions so offensive their own kids would rather skip Christmas dinner than endure them?
Yeah, no thanks.

Stop guilting people about being estranged from family members. It someone is they likely have personal reasons for being so.

ffs there is a whole-ass four hour video on this that grapples in significant part with how people feel negatively about something they liked when they discover it’s plagiarized youtu.be/yDp3cB5fHXQ?...

It feels like from now on, every single time a celebrity makes a sudden lurch into right-wing politics, the question on everyone's minds should be "which crime was it?"

Even if you put aside the exploitation of AI - I would still dislike it.

The joy of art is in trying to imagine the intent of the creator; why this? Why this particular way? What did they expect me to feel? How DO I feel?

It’s a conversation that spans language, distance, time. It’s fucking magic.
“How can you suddenly dislike art when you find out it’s made by AI?”

For the same reason I can dislike art when I find out the employees were overworked and underpaid.

Because I care about people.

You dipshit.

This year marked the first time the AI avatar of a victim—in this case, a dead man—has ever addressed a court, and it raises many questions about the use of this type of technology in future court proceedings.

I had a colleague use AI to create a PowerPoint and he sent it out before reviewing it.

When it had slides out of order and bad intel, I asked if he generated it, and this motherfucker said "Only the words".

So, I'm sure CDPR folks fucking *love* their colleagues using it in "productive" areas.

There's no reason to

These goddamn platforms have been proven, over and over, to get basic facts and figures and math wrong. Why in the world would you want or need that for BUDGETS or DESIGN DOCS??

NOT TO MENTION that any information you enter is fed back into the machine! Goodbye NDA!

It's very easy:

Just don't. The idea that Copilot or ChatGPT are suddenly essential tools is just buying into the corporate ad blitz.

Games were made just fine (well, relatively) up through...what, 2023? 2024? They didn't suddenly become VITAL for budgets or design docs in the last 2-3 years.

I’ve been in game dev for 26 years and I can’t remember any other time where a specific tech was being insistently and persistently pushed on devs as a group in the public sphere.

Why would it? Cui bono? Why would any given dev have an interest in other devs using tech they don’t have a stake in?
My conspiracy theory about genAI in games blowing up more and more by big companies is that they’ve all got a ton of investors insisting they use genAI tools otherwise they(investors) won’t be able to bankroll em anymore
