Finally made a #meettheartist because I figured it would be the best way to do an intro post for BlueSky!
#artistsonbluesky #lgbtartist #womeninanimation #supporthumanartists
A "Meet the Artist" graphic containing a self-portrait of the artist with a brief profile and their likes & dislikes. The bio reads:
Eileen/rinneil (they/she)
-NOT "Ellen," "Elaine," "EE-Laine," etc.
-[pictures of the lesbian and genderqueer flags]
-Old zoomer with young millennial tendencies
-2021 animation BFA graduate
-I draw! I paint! I animate!
-sometimes I make music with singing robots
-horrible workaholic tendencies (probably 80 HD but I don't really care about getting a dx)
-currently working on a cartoon pitch about villains
-cooks AND bakes like a pro (what, like it's hard to do both?)

this is good! this is exactly what you'd want to see out of this. the full post has more details, but this snippet covers the policy change.
[a quote from the linked post, with custom styling to make the text brighter, and to make bold and italicized text stand out; emphasis is not included in the following alt text]

Hate speech does not belong on RetroAchievements.
Even when disguised as a joke, it normalises real-world hate and harms our community. There is a difference between juvenile humor and outright hate speech. What Pokémon Clover calls humor is hate speech. RetroAchievements will not legitimize bigotry by hosting an achievement set for it.

Content Policy for Achievement Sets
RetroAchievements will no longer approve achievement sets for games that contain:
* Illegal content. Content that is illegal to own or distribute in major jurisdictions.
* Glorified hate speech. Content that intentionally targets individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics.
* Sexual exploitation. Glorification of sexual assault, non-consensual acts, or child sexual abuse material.
* Extreme or abhorrent content. Content that violates community standards in a way that undermines RetroAchievements’ values.

Games that have been rated by official ratings boards (ESRB, PEGI, or similar organizations) are considered acceptable, as these games have undergone professional content review. The only exception is if a game contains content that is illegal to own or distribute, regardless of its rating status.

Hacks, homebrew, and unlicensed games do not undergo ratings board review and will receive additional scrutiny to ensure compliance with this new policy.

This policy provides guidance, but is not exhaustive. The RA team reserves the right to evaluate games on a case-by-case basis and make determinations in the best interest of maintaining a safe, legal, welcoming, and inclusive community.

one thing I learned during 2020 is that "less than lethal" munitions are explicitly designed to be shot into the ground so they lose velocity and bounce up into people and the reason I didn't know that before is literally NO ONE has ever deployed them that way.

Reporter's notebook: I actually began working on this story shortly after footage of the incident showed up last month.

But by the time I finally got ahold of folks, the story grew: 2 *other* faith leaders I spoke with *also* reported being shot w/pepper balls while protesting this ICE facility.

the finale's scariness is almost 100% carried by Edward Woodward's absolutely pitch perfect performance that ABSOLUTELY sells the mounting terror as he realizes just how *bad* this situation is

SO, overall thoughts on The Wicker Man: I was kinda curious why it was held up as this A tier example of "folk horror" cause for most of the film, it's...not scary? It's engaging and has great vibes, but it's not scary

Then the last 20 minutes are the most bone chilling thing I've ever seen, A+

Introducing my new comic book font, Girl Kisser 🧡🤍💖

It's all-caps, really pretty, super soft, and comes with a wide range of glyphs. It's hand-drawn with a micron pen and hand-traced into vectors, and it's perfect for comic book dialogue.

You can find it over here: ko-fi.com/s/b1e9cc34d4
Large center text: "Girl Kisser", with tiny trans, lesbian, and bisexual pride flags poking out of the side.
Top left text: "Designed for use in comics"
Top right text: "Regular • Italic / Bold • Bold Italic", with each in their respective style
Bottom right text: "Manga characters ♪♫♥※💢〜"
Bottom center text: "Free for commercial use"
Bottom left text: "internationalcharacters ¿¡ÁÈïÔŰ»"

I think we should think more highly of the audience and the creators who want to make stories using their own hands.

Day 8 -- Clockwork

Automatons by no means needed to be ornamental, but artisans of the deep woods didn't tend to understand concepts like "too much."
A deerlike anthro fella sits among jars of pigment and paintbrushes, closely focusing on painting filigree on the head of a yet-to-be-assembled automaton, which resembles a horned deer wearing goggles
