Despite being ill I think this first formation #paleostream of the year turned out pretty good.
The Upper Elliot Formation from the early Jurassic of South Africa is an important piece for our understanding of sauropod evolution but beyond that it's just a really cool assemblage...

Can finally share this #watercolor #paleoart I did a few years back of the “King of the Riverside” I did for the new paper by @melanieduring.com which shows that in Hell Creek there were giant Prognathodon mosasaurs that were living in freshwater (not just visiting)

Weird is the presence of Smilodon fatalis instead of populator but also the surprisingly small local population of Eremotherium, with Catonyx filling the role of the largest local ground sloth. There are also white tailed deer, smaller than the also present dire wolves...
