At least 3 other European leaders Olaf Scholz, Keir Starmer & Jonas Gahr Støre have called out Musk in last 24 hours.

The former President Jimmy Carter has died at the age of 100. Read Lawrence Wright’s recollection of the late President’s life and career.
Remembering a Visit to Jimmy Carter in Plains, Georgia
The late President’s priorities were remarkably prescient, and his personal qualities offered a dismaying contrast to so much of the present state of American politics.

The reason the coup attempt in South Korea failed as quickly as it did is because South Koreans immediately rushed to the streets to say “we won’t let you do that” and force the military to decide whether they’d shoot their fellow citizens or not.

Important for us remember over the next 4 years.

This I what I had been trying to explain. Establishment vs anti-establishment. Improve the system vs burn the system down and start over. Either way you slice it, it feels like relative stability vs chaos or even normies vs trolls.

I’m thinking tonight of all the people out there who are suddenly targets for suspicion, harassment, and worse. Citizens, permanent residents, visitors, on visas or undocumented—doesn’t matter. Trump’s policy makes it acceptable—even patriotic—to paint all Asians as outsiders and potential threats.

As a personal example—I’m thinking about my teen, who is part Asian and conceivably could be “of military age.” Never set foot in China in his life. Any asshole on the street can decide he doesn’t “belong” here—what are his options? Carry his passport and birth certificate at all times?

“I’m not Chinese”—any Asian face will be suspect.

“I’m a citizen”—this didn’t protect Japanese American citizens from internment camps, and it hasn’t protected others from deportation in the past.

Carry your papers. But also remember how some refused to believe Obama’s birth certificate.

Racist assholes have stopped me on the street, all my life, to tell me to “go back where I came from.” Every Asian I know has experienced this. Now racists will feel even more empowered to go after ANY Asian, with the government’s blessing.

Be careful out there, folks.
