Printer. Not a dinosaur. Living in beautiful NM as a blue dot in a red corner. Been on this earth for a half century. Saddened that the things that were top issues when I was a child are becoming top issues again.

These declines are MASSIVE.

And the comparative silence in media coverage is absolutely DAMNING.

“Why are ppl always so afraid of crime?”

THIS is why. When crime goes up, media trips over itself to report it.

Falls to pre-war (!!) levels? Just CRICKETS.
I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.

20 State AGs have sued Russell Vought for trying to starve the CFPB of funding.

Since 2011, the CFPB has returned over $20B to consumers.

Suggestion regarding Trump-Epstein:

Don't focus on finding a smoking gun. There's already so much smoke. Most unconvinced by already-public evidence are cultists who'll deny forever (or like it).

The goals should be truth, justice for victims, and an appalled scandal drumbeat that never goes away.

Alan Dershowitz, Mr “I kept my underwear on” is not going to be happy about this.
The redacted document says he negotiated the Epstein agreement in order to protect himself.
More generally, Epstein’s buddies are not going to be happy,
as there seems to be a way to see behind the redactions …
It is. You can actually search visible text on the redacted documents and the completely UNredacted document appears in the results 😭

Exactly this: the administration’s concentration camps should be a howling, daily outrage, a scandal of historic proportions.
Bari’s complaint was “there’s nothing new here” and while that’s untrue it’s also irrelevant

“we intentionally sent people to be tortured in a hellhole and bragged about it and The Hague is too good for everyone involved” is a story that simply cannot be told enough

An absolute horror. One day this accursed administration will end; one day Trump will be dead. The people who made this happen, who covered it up, should reflect very hard on which direction they want their lives to go that day. Because they’re deciding right now, whether they know it or not.
Detainee they are interviewing was a college student in Columbia. Waited in Mexico until he had a 2024 immigration interview in CA - a scheduled appointment - where he was told he was a danger to society. Claims he has no criminal record, never even got a traffic ticket. Was immediately detained

SUPER timely as SCOTUS is about to kill agency independence & give POTUS more control over agencies (likely to donors' benefit)

In Georgia, a mom facing eviction reached out to DFCS for help. They offered her nothing. Soon the agency took her kids away because of "inadequate housing."

The state then paid *$6,200 a month* to house her kids in foster care.

One of the most important and infuriating stories I read this year:
When Families Need Housing, Georgia Will Pay for Foster Care Rather Than Provide Assistance
In more than 700 cases over five years, Georgia reported inadequate housing as the sole reason for taking a child into foster care, a WABE and ProPublica analysis found. Advocates say it would be chea...
