It never ceases to blow my mind that so many tech, sci-fi, futurism backers ended up swinging so far right. Did they entirely miss the point of the sci-fi novels? That identity, self, personal exploration is something we can nurture and grow? It's like instead they said, "no we like the dystopia."

Another incredible case of white racial grievance about the academic job market.

He reveals at the end that he wouldn’t provide the necessary application materials!
I experienced all of this firsthand, having entered graduate school in 2013. By 2020, I watched non-white colleagues with CVs a tiny fraction as strong as mine absolutely swamped with interview requests and job offers, while I couldn't even secure a preliminary phone interview. I saw a non-white, female biologists with zero peer-reviewed publications receive a tenure-track job offer from an Ivy League university within minutes of defending her PhD thesis. This would have been utterly incomprehensible in years prior, as such positions are typically only given to well-established academics with a long and very high impact publication record. To call this demoralizing would be a dramatic understatement. Combine my sex and race with the fact that I refused to write the woke DEI statements that most universities had begun requiring, due to my strong moral opposition to DEI ideology, and landing a tenure-track position at a respectable university began to feel like a pipe dream

Were there moments that you missed? Anything that happened that’s on the cutting room floor? I don’t think there’s anything I missed that I wish I’d gotten. I’ll give you a little anecdote: Stephen Miller was perhaps the most concerned about the portrait session. He asked me, “Should I smile or not smile?” and I said, “How would you want to be portrayed?” We agreed that we would do a bit of both. And then when we were finished, he comes up to me to shake my hand and say goodbye. And he says to me, “You know, you have a lot of power in the discretion you use to be kind to people.” And I looked at him and I said, “You know, you do, too.”

Constitutional originalism is a shambolic stance, rooted in an utter and complete misunderstanding of our Constitutional and our history. How can anyone study law, or even begin to understand the rule of law when it’s constantly undermined? It’s simple, they only want power, based on fiat.

No, I 100% agree that computer RPGs these days have too much handholding.
