Cory Doctorow talks about how tech companies want to create "reverse centaurs" where the robot does the thinking while the meat sack does the work part. Most people want the opposite, that's why these ads are so weirdly jarring, they're for investors, not people.

So I finally beat this game, and I didn’t even know what I was getting into with the music. This was before I heard Monoco, before I heard Une vie à t’aimer… this soundtrack better win awards. @expedition33.bsky.social
Finally picked up a copy of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and with 2 or so hours in it the thing that’s sticking out so far is the music. Just stellar and perfect for the environment and atmosphere so far. @expedition33.bsky.social

My last living musical hero is still my hero but unfortunately no longer living. RIP to the great, great Mr. Tom Lehrer.

Nothing quite like playing a game of chess and feeling like you played well only for the game review to show you the multiple times you missed mate in 1.

Do they not sell digital codes for games on Amazon anymore? I’ve got 50 bucks burning a hole in my Amazon account just begging to get Clair Obscura and all the physical editions are sold out.

You know what the biggest problem with pushing all-things-AI is? Wrong direction.
I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.

for like 20 years we've been doing these experiments and they have the same results every single time and the people in power are always like "ok good, just a few more experiments to know for sure"
The results from Germany's big 3-year UBI experiment are out!

122 people got €1200/mo for 3 years. All were age 21-40 and employed with incomes between €1100/mo to €2600/mo

They were happier, healthier, saved more, gave more, enjoyed more social time, and DID NOT WORK LESS than the control group.
