Otherwise it’s just regulatory arbitrage which is the point of my larger beef with the industry. If they wanted to design a system that wasn’t capable of that arbitrage they could have. It’s a tell that they chose not to.

Finally, I think it is directionally true that many parts of our payment system (credit cards being the most obvious) have sufficient market concentration that there is value in new competitors. But that only works if those competitors still have to meet all the same KYC/AML rules.
