I can say from decades of experience that it is EASY AS FUCK to end up homeless and one of the hardest things you can do is to get back into even the shittest apartment.

Homeless people are not the enemy.

They can’t “just try harder” their way into housing.

It’s the system that’s failing.

Most of us are one emergency away from being homeless ourselves.

We need affordable housing, universal basic income, healthcare & social supports.

We need a safety net

Walkng home in the middle of the night, looked up at the sky. 1st thing I saw, big as anything there on the horizon, was the constellation Orion. I've been looking up at Orion my entire life. After the last 10 severely fucked up years it was so nice to see somethng familiar I almost started weeping.

The Oregon national guard general says if the Oregon National guard were to be deployed they would be instructed under his leadership to protect the protesters not ICE.

As an instructor, I'd rather see your fever dream, No Doze-fueled 4AM essays written at an IHOP rather than anything generated by an LLM.

Hope this helps

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.
wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.

Classroom 80 years from now.

Kid looking up from history book: they all knew about the neo-Nazis before the war, saw the signs, read their whole playbook, & instead of killing them & saving everybody, we gave them 40 billion dollars?

Bray is a historian at Rutgers who received death threats after landing on Turning Points USA's Professor Watchlist. As a result, he announced he was moving to Europe. And then this happened.

This kind of harassment and abuse of scholars is Charlie Kirk's legacy and it's only getting worse.

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

It's increasingly clear to me that a lot of Democrats were supporting queer rights only on sufferance and cannot WAIT to throw us under the bus, even if it doesn't actually benefit them.

I feel like people are forgetting that transgender people aren't just fictional made-up fae bullshit whose rights are negotiable, but actual real people and we are those real people.

Say that again, but this time with a little less "trans" and a little more "Jewish" and see if it still sounds good.

If you are willing to throw away entire groups of people to protect your insular strategy that will only protect you instead of protecting everyone then I don’t want your leaders and I sure as hell don’t want to be associated with you.

I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

All I can say is, replace "trans rights" with "Jewish rights" in this diatribe and others like it, and sit with it for a minute.

Then don't expect trans people to sacrifice themselves for your rights either. We are all free or none of us are, and if you can't stand and die on this hill, your country isn't worth dying for.
