I think this post nails the actual problem, for researchers at least—AI hallucinations would simply not be a problem in academic work if we’d not normalized citation-as-signaling rather than actual engagement—you can only cite a fake paper if you’re not in the habit of reading the papers you cite

There's a reason I've spent the last year diversifying my investment holdings. When the "AI" bubble pops, it's going to be fucking brutal.
The AI bubble will pop. However, just as with the dot-com bubble, the underlying technology will stick around and eventually succeed. That said, it took the Nasdaq 15 years to recover from that, and it won't surprise me if it takes that long for our current market to recover.

If they're going to award Nebulas for partial LLM-created works then I want a piece of those Nebulas since my work was stolen to create them.
I'm so disappointed in @sfwa.org for this. I understand that by requiring disclosure of partial LLM-created works, as their announcement states, means SFWA's letting "nominators and the voters" make the final decision. BUT YOU'RE STILL ALLOWING SUCH WORKS ON THE NEBULA AWARDS FINAL BALLOT! 1/

I was given ms paint doodles to do both of these commissions. You don't need ANY drawing experience to convey a concept to an artist who is willing to work with you. Stick figures and crude doodles are awesome. Just communicate.

2/2 Nor, when it comes to writing awards, will I nominate or vote to award, a piece of work partially or wholly written by LLM. Awards are for writers who make the effort, not those who offload the difficult aspects of creation to a program mining the work of others. Do the fucking work, people.

1/2 Apropos of nothing in particular, I guarantee I will never write a piece of fiction with the "help" of a large language model because a) I spent too many years developing skills to just fuck off now, b) I don't plagiarize other authors, whether intentionally or by way of statistical matches.
