The void staring back
So here's just a weird thing, seen in #greece. On my morning dog walks for the last 5 days, there's this collection of cinnamon containers on a ledge in front of somebody's house. Is it a Greek thing? Is it a superstition? Did somebody just forget all of their random pots of cinnamon? #mystery.

by carefully mixing 10% cream with 1% skim milk, you can unlock forbidden milk percentages the government doesn't want you to know about, like 7.725%

Main character energy is OUT, this summer we’re bringing NPC energy. We’re posted up at the bar dropping lore and suggesting side quests. We’re leaning casually near a locked door and saying “I don’t think you have the key for that” when someone tries the handle. We’re staring at a tree.

I'm listening to my Nitzer Ebb Pandora station and lamenting the fact that my late '80s dreams of being a full time haunted doll are never going to come true.

Because it turns out, in our particular hellscape, "haunted doll" is not a high paying marketable skill, and you have to have one of those.

The pipeline from trusted and revered "feminist" writer and vocal victim advocate ➡️ red-pilled, MRA/incel "victim of the woke mob" apparently now entails suing the *victim* of your sexual coercion for $500k. Cool, cool.

"Believe women." Except the women you sexually blackmailed and then paid off.

I am no longer surprised when companies react to slumping sales with inane rule changes like this. Be sure to harass your employees about nothing, because colorful shirts and pants are the ENTIRE reason your chain is in its flop era. www.cnn.com/2025/04/15/b...

Starbucks is updating its uniform policy, emphasizing the appearance of its recognizable “green aprons” as part of CEO Brian Niccol’s broader plans to revive the slumping brand.

I’m surprised the Republicans are using the weather machine against their own red states like this. But, y’all do y’all.

Adjusted for inflation, 1973's "The $6 Million Man" would cost $41 million. But the price of this tech has come down so dramatically that, even though we're not quite at bionic capability yet, the cost of outfitting someone with similar available civilian tech would be $2-4mil (according to ChatGPT)

Me: how did you get this number?

Every day I go into FB memories and delete every memory from that day. (Eventually, my profile there will be empty so I maintain my contact list for emergencies but am unmonetizable.) I am unearthing some gems though, like this one from @ryannorth.ca

The thing about so-called generative artificial intelligence is, the intelligence isn't artificial. It's real. It's OURS. The techbros stole our intelligence (our data, our thoughts, our stories, our art) and used the software to regurgitate it and spackle it together into digital particleboard.

I honestly don't understand how British Airways can be as crap as they are and stay in business. You try to call them and their AI just disconnects you. I try to click on my profile on the app, it tells me it doesn't exist. Now the website is just completely offline. Is this 1998?

My first Starbucks this trip so far. But I really needed a bathroom. It's wild watching Greeks walk around in belted wool coats when it's 62 degrees out. Also, the sun hits different here. #glyfada

I'm staying in a pretty swishy suburb of Athens. Even here there are fairly aggressive panhandlers, undeterred when I tell them I don't speak Greek. This morning a woman switched to English, gestured to the child in her stroller and said "I found your baby." Non compelling argument, ma'am. Keep it.

Just successfully ordered my entire lunch in Greek. Wanted to burst into stress tears because I was sure I was doing it imperfectly, but I did it anyway. And it worked.

On the not delightful side: I bought $200 of discounted Uber gift cards at Costco for this trip. My first Uber here posted to my credit card, which confused me. Then I discovered these gift cards don’t work in Europe. Now I’ve got $200 in credits I can’t use and I have to pay again if I want a ride.
