JUST IN: The Republican Mayor of Fairbanks, Alaska’s second biggest city, lost re-election last night to a Democrat.

Mayor David Pruhs is a conservative who fought protections for LGBTQ+ residents; he made comments this year drew condemnation this year from Alaska Natives. He lost to Mindy O'Neall.

Okay that's just COOL. I just found out my adopted sister, her wife, and their kid share: a wedding anniversary and 3 birthdays within a reverse n umber spiral of 8, then 7, then 6 days. Pure coincidence (they were married a week after one of their birthdays, kid was born 6 days before etc)

It can be frustrating, especially if your art is your livelihood, but these things do come, and they are natural. I've been in a writing slump for three months now myself, so I've been working on other creative projects while I let my writer brain recouperate.

This is an extreme case, though :)

Breaks are a part of the process. If you aren't taking time to recuperate after and in-between long periods of high effort and intense focus, you're inflicting mental and physical harm on yourself.

Stretch. Drink water. Play a video game. Take care of yourself. Come back once you've done so.

Not sure if I should be paranoid about the fact that my mom's rheumatologist office suddenly had a series of questions relating to her sexual orientation and gender identity on her most recent visit.

Her exact words when she told me about it, were "Why do they even want to know all that? stuff?"

Seeing the... colorful interpretation of moderation lately has made me realize Bluesky and the AT protocol is just as centralized as Threads or Xitter. The real alternative is Mastodon which remains regrettably unpopular for a myriad of reasons.

... And being honest, that was just going to be a nifty parlor trick to impress my machinist uncle anyway. If I REALLY want to print engineering filaments I hear they're doing amazing things with carbon fiber/glass fiber filaments these days that don't require a nuclear furnace to melt

it seemed popular on Reddit of all places, as an enclosure that won't bake the Bambu Lab A1'sinternals (steady 40C they claim but I can always fit a fan on it if needed)

So instead of paying $700 for a P1S with WAY too many compromises I can get an A1 and basically only give up printing in ASA XD
