I don't care if a non-disabled person accesses a disability accommodation for the same reason I don't care if a child whose parents are rich gets free lunch at school. We don't need to means test being a kind person. I have better things to do with my time than be a cop over social services.

Why do men need an exclusive vision of virtue? Why don’t they want a universal, ungendered ideal of a good life? Why won’t they share in that striving with us?

Was not aware that we were out of cinnamon for the pumpkin pie (doing the feast this weekend). Wondered if cardamom might suffice. Looked it up and this is a thing! And OMG we are never going back to cinnamon.

Nuzzi's fawning coverage of the sociopathic conspiracy crank she was having an affair with aided his rise to political power, which he is using to perpetrate the worst intentional public health catastrophe of our unnecessarily shortened lifetimes, and THAT is the STORY.

It's so interesting that in the name of practicality we are urged to avoid any practical action; in the name of redemption we are urged to exonerate people who have shown no interest in redemption; in the name of civility we are urged to overlook the cruelty of those who scorn all civility

Every single woman you know has had this happen to her. Even the goddamn president of Mexico.
Brava: “If I don’t file a complaint, then what message does that send to all Mexican women?” Ms. Sheinbaum said at her daily news conference, noting sexual harassment was a crime… “If this can happen to the president, what’s going to happen to all the young women & women across our country?”

Anderson Cooper, normalizing an authoritarian: "Shouldn't voters obey in advance? Isn't not obeying in advance a hassle? Aren't I, as an extremely wealthy scion, the wrong person for this job? But isn't my gotcha question sparkly?"
In the 1st question of his brief interview with Mamdani. Anderson Cooper reports Trump’s strongman threats to punish NYC if the Mayoral candidate is elected, as if he gets to select where funding goes according to his whims, & then asks whether voters will find it “worth the hassle” to vote for him.

I put off listening to Klein/Coates for a day in self-preservation. Plugged in today and a third of the way in I've had to take a break. Klein's inability to actually listen to and truly respond to what Coates is saying is staggering.

It’s been said before but this idea that Republicans have captured the spirit of the volk, and Democrats must imitate them to appeal to the “real” Americans, also concedes that all the people Republicans target for indignity and repression—here, women—are less American than others.

The notion that Republicans are the more real Americans, whose authenticity Democrats must pay tribute to with imitation, persistence even though it is contradicted by more and more actual empirical evidence.
I genuinely cannot believe that Ezra Klein said we should run pro-life candidates in Kansas, Ohio, and Missouri; three states that recently held abortion referendums where the pro-choice side won!
