Moved to the UK also 15 years ago, also attracted by the awesomeness of its university sector.

The speed with which something built over generations has been trashed by one MBA-brained cohort is absolutely mindboggling.
It would have been hard to believe, when I moved to the UK over 15 yrs ago to start my PhD at Edinburgh, that successive Conservative and Labour governments would actively undermine one of the UK's most successful and strategic sectors and run it to the ground. Unbelievable, really. And here we are

In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

somebody on here suggested awhile back that a pretty compelling 2028 Democrat campaign promise would be "on day one I will deploy a WPA-scale army of forensic accountants across every square inch of the federal government" and I think about that every day
It’s crazy to think about the crimes we’re going to learn about after this regime ends.

We’re already hearing about Watergate level crimes every week. Imagine what will come out after it’s over.

We’re going to need a full accounting of all that’s been done in violation of the constitution.

Big demand for whistles in New Orleans and 3D printing is the fastest/cheapest way to produce them right now. If you can help with printing, DM me. There are volunteers already handling pickups, dropoffs, regular printed materials and bundling. We could just use more people printing.

I have been looking at Black Friday sales for a week but I do not actually need anything so instead I closed all those tabs and bought a Polaroid for a foster kid in Florida who uses photography to deal with big feelings. Perhaps you would like to do the same for one of the kids at the link below?
🧵 We are, in fact, doing the thing again for @onesimplewish.bsky.social. In 2024, the kind people of this community put the money cannon on blast to help grant $75K in wishes for children in foster care. Toys, tech, a suit for job interviews. Here we go again! 👇

I just want to say something — clear up — as a Latina daughter of immigrants and sister to Latino man I have so much anxiety for my family.

And while my parents “did it the right way” I just have an obligation to look out for the rest of my people.

This is an important point. Supreme Court justices who take everything from luxury vacations to tires from right-wing billionaire benefactors aren't going to bat an eye at their fellow Republican president treating the government like an ATM. Thick as thieves!

This interview has given me fodder for my daily call to Cassidy (202) 224-5824 - if anyone else wants to remind him THAT IS NOT HOW ANYTHING WORKS
Not the point but not only is this not how “shopping” for healthcare would work, it’s also not how shopping for shampoo works
Cassidy: "If she goes and gets 2 types of shampoo & one is a dollar cheaper, she'll get the cheaper one & the other lowers their price. Once you give her the power of making the decision, she's gonna shop -- that begins to save her money and squeezes waste out of the healthcare system."
