It is important to acknowledge who is standing up and who is just trying to get by. Every day Americans are standing up while the powerful are mostly standing by.

Why aren't law firms standing up and sending lawyers to Minneapolis. Why aren't the corporations speaking out? Why isn't the media?

Never forget that billionaires spend billions to convince you that voting doesn't matter. Don't help them. Voting isn't the ONLY thing we can do, but it is the most powerful check on the executive. "Don't bother voting because there'll be no free elections" is oligarch propaganda.

Wait. The CDC closed its FOIA office?!?
How sad is this? The CDC closed its FOIA office, so this story could only be published because a Danish journalist provided Rolling Stone with the documents, after obtaining them through a freedom of information request to the University of Southern Denmark

HHS Gave a $1.6 Million Grant to a Controversial Vaccine Study. These Emails Show How That Happened
Two Danish researchers faced accusations of “questionable research practices” as RFK Jr.’s top appointees made their study a “funding priority.”

This. What you’re seeing now is panic and weakness and chaos.
Trump is surfing the buzz of bombing and invading and threatening, but things are not going his way; he wants ICE to freak people out. (It is. But not the way he hopes.)
His escalations are due to his weakness and declining support. And they will only accelerate his decline.
Does anybody think his Minnesota Shitshow is going to swing things back his way and boost his approval ratings?

This is exactly what @sethcotlar.bsky.social & @badtoss.bsky.social were talking about yesterday. Christians, especially evangelicals, can assert their beliefs that their religious beliefs should be the law of the land, while also being treated as not “political,” in ways no other group is allowed.
This is the key part. Only Christian Americans are allowed to confidently proclaim the truth of their beliefs, if anyone else does it they’re trying to “ram their beliefs down your throat.”

Sometimes they just tell us they are weaponizing the criminal justice system to push their political agenda.
Sen. Kevin Cramer: "Maybe the point should be if you're the attorney for Jay Powell and you want to avoid an indictment, how about you go to Jeanine Pirro and say, 'I'll make a deal. I'll step down today if you drop the investigation today.' To me, that would be a win win for everybody."

Breaking NYT:

The Pentagon used a secret aircraft painted to look like a civilian plane in its first boat attack, according to officials briefed on the matter.

The laws of armed conflict forbid combatants from feigning civilian status.

That is a war crime called "perfidy."

Our entire politics now is about our sundowning, failing, unpopular leader, whose powers are clearly ebbing, maniacally trying to find ways to restore his STRENGTH, POWER, and MANLINESS.

Like seizing Greenland; taking VZ’s oil; killing men in boats; terrorizing US cities; bombing other countries.
Not everyone believed me when I wrote that Trump wants Greenland becuase it would make him feel important, but that's what he told the NYT:

When asked why he needed to possess the territory, he said: “Because that’s what I feel is psychologically needed for success"

You absolutely do not have to hand it to Megyn Kelly, but this is a good reminder that everyone at Fox News knows they're shoveling an endless stream of bullshit and lies into the eyes and ears of their audience
Megyn Kelly admits Fox News = State TV: “When I was at Fox, I would’ve known I was supposed to cheerlead this. I turned on Fox and it was like watching Russian propaganda… sorry, I’ve been burned too many times. Trump says he’d be ok with boots on the ground. Whose boots? A lot of us have kids.”

Don’t be fooled: you can’t both claim this was simply the execution of an arrest warrant AND say the U.S. is now "running" Venezuela & grabbing its oil resources.

Trump just admitted this was a clear regime-change play to enrich U.S. oil companies & his billionaire buddies.
Trump and his cronies can try to dress this up, but it is an illegal act of war to replace Maduro and grab Venezuela's oil for his billionaire buddies.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

I just taught my lecture course on mid-20th c US history, which starts with Harding and concludes with Nixon.

For the first time, I had to pause and stress that those scandals were actually shocking at the time and, what’s more, that Americans actually demanded people be held accountable.
All of the money that changed hands in the Teapot Dome scandal totaled less than $10 million after adjusting for inflation, and it was considered so corrupt we still teach it in high school government classes a century later.

This NYT headline makes it seem like it was an everybody problem. It was not.
