Hilarious that a bunch of guys who couldn't even manage to spin their own cotton domestically thought they could invent a submarine.

Yes. I don't like gerrymandering. But unilaterally disarming weakens the political pressure to end gerrymandering at the federal level, which is the only level where it actually matters.

Got my ballot, voted yes on prop 50, immediately mailed it back.

Are you even a professional software developer if you've never been asked by a PM to solve the halting problem?

It’s funny to do computer things without coming from a computer background because occasionally I’ll be like “hey has anyone ever noticed this weird issue?!” and be told “yes, there is a massive $10 billion industry devoted exclusively to trying to solve that problem”

If Hitler had been in the habit of making good decisions he wouldn't have been Hitler.

One thing I really appreciate about Corey is that when he finally changed his mind about Trump being fascist he wrote a giant article about explaining how he was wrong and how he was going to change his thinking.

... oh wait. No. He didn't do that.

David Ellison's first major hires at CBS News have been right-wing ombudsman Kenneth Weinstein and right-wing editor-in-chief Bari Weiss. But his true political views remain a mystery.

"Bagherese" is a reference to my family's home town of Bagheria!

You'd think Trump would have exhausted all the possible ways to annoy me personally, but his genius drives him to discover new ones every day.

Hey Californian- don’t forget to vote YES ON 50

(and to call @governor.ca.gov to bully into into signing SB79)

Sure. Reward hacking is a thing. But while it might be deceptive, I wouldn't call that lying.

I get what you're saying but I wouldn't say - for example - that viceroy butterflies are lying when they exhibit colors that make predators confuse them with Monarchs.

hi, Chicago Police expert here! this is not funny, CPD only protect protesters' rights when they’re in extreme distress.

CPD has 20+ injured on duty this afternoon, most/all from federal use of gas. Related: no arrests by CPD, no documented uses of force by CPD. (I wasn't everywhere / didn't see every skirmish. And possibly some late-entry TRR forms to come.) Saw two federal arrests, saw one on video didn't witness.

Chaos in Brighton Park. This is representative of the amount / direction of pepper and smoke sent into the neighborhood, in this case, for no reason I can discern other than because they were leaving. Feds had a clear path out in a different direction, and residents were vocal but not violent here.

Lying requires intent to deceive. Insofar as LLMs can be said to have intent (already an iffy proposition), it's to return the kind of answers they've been trained to: i.e. correct answers.

I'm super pro-ai (by bluesky standards) and I even believe digital algorithms could theoretically replicate human consciousness. But I'm still floored by how often users speak of LLMs "lying".

No, dude. The LLM is not intentionally deceiving you. It's just really dumb and got confused.

Or like, here is an absolute psycho just happily recounting his behavior in a github comment. You can go look at a whole pile of Claude Code issues and see similar, because of, uh, Exactly Who Is Using It This Way: put kindly, people who want employees and should not have them.

like I've been saying, a lot of anti-AI discourse strikes me as being anti-nuclear because nuclear explosions are obviously impossible and therefore all the money we're spending on bombs is useless
