New from me at @scishow.bsky.social! In news stories, why do quantum computers look like a 'steampunk chandelier'? Well, turns out: that's not the computer!

(But that's all just setup for my rant at the end about how so much quantum tech is way over-hyped 👀👀👀)

this is actually one of the hubble images of all time
An image is split in two. In the bottom left of the first image a bright blue ring appears, slightly fading in all directions, with a small blue dot in the middle. Red and orange waves of gas ripple, arcing from top left to top right. A light blue center appears out of the sea of red, and several bright white dots shine through. In the top right, dark blue gas emanates from the blackness of space. An image is split in two. If you can't touch grass today, watch this video about grass from @scishow.bsky.social. Definitely the coolest grass story I've heard in a long time. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFXd...

I'm not sure what it says about me that I could immediately recognise the Park Grass experiment from just the thumbnail of this @scishow.bsky.social video!

I always wanted to believe in Blue Zones, or unique parts of the world where there is thought to be a higher rate of centenarians and super centenarians. I had an opportunity to read a ton and write about them in this episode of @scishow.bsky.social 🤓

The new episode I wrote for @scishow.bsky.social just came out! It's about #viruses, the kind that lie dormant inside us, and what happens to those viruses when we go to #space.

Thank you! We are okay, just taking a week to focus. As the kids are saying these days, we’re locking in. We’ll be back with new episodes July 7th!

Hank! I love @scishow.bsky.social and supported it when I could.

Maybe it’s just me as an aspiring astrophysics nerd, but I yelled “What the f*ck!” at the screen at a very specific point in the video.

That a neutrino could run into something so primordial is wild.

This was a really fun one. We wrote about the real science behind an ancient tome said to hold alchemical secrets... And just what does Shannon entropy have to do with it?

@hankgreen.bsky.social I got my @scishow.bsky.social postcards! I was about to add them to the Complexly/PBS/Kurzgesagt corner of my board when I saw last year's was postmarked. Was it actually cheaper to ship them in a padded envelope this year instead of mailing them all like normal postcards?
