I got this *ages* ago. Finally started it yesterday after reluctantly finishing Planetfall. Am going to have to read it a good few times, once to focus on the Orkney dialect and translation, then again to focus on the story.

Three weeks ago I marked nine years on Testosterone.
I didn't celebrate it then because I was in the middle of a multi-month battle to be allowed to stay on it, despite not producing my own hormones and simply wanting to remain on the exact prescription I'd had for nine years without any problems.

Reasons to wear a BRIGHT PINK jacket: nannas with partial vision can see you clearly at the bus stop, which helps them find the bus they need for Sainsbury's, and when you get them onto said bus, they can spot you outside and give you a big wave as they go.

It is absolutely not news, and so shouldn't be in the top half of the One O'Clock bulletin, but there's a report on a couple who're fostering eight labradoodle puppies and it's almost making up for the effect on my blood pressure of all the budget coverage.

Effectively writing my own pattern for this knitting project (an Xmas Nordic-esque cardigan for @samsgromit.bsky.social), using chunks of existing patterns, trial and error, and much iteration. It's coding, but cosy.

you just need to repeat the thing you're looking for as you move from room to room. As soon as you leave a room you forget what you were looking for. So just walk through your house saying "keys keys keys keys keys keys"
