Thank you! This is my moment of joy post for today.
(🧵) I’ve never—in 30 years in journalism—published a report like this: one that could genuinely bring hope. I spent the last 15 hours curating and labeling photos from hundreds of No Kings Day protests. It’s the largest archive of its kind and it has *lots* of Easter eggs (memes, an essay and more).
Over 250 Photos From Around the Nation and the World From the Historic “No Kings Day” Protests
Almost no one showed up to Donald Trump’s surprisingly timid, depressing, and generally lackluster birthday party in Washington, but protests against him were bursting at the seams across the globe.

NOTE/ Just a note to say that I’ve become a bit addicted to finding new No Kings Day photos from new locations—so there’s a good chance this archive will get even bigger than it already is. (I just have to be careful, as Substack has an upload limit and the report is already huge!)

It wasn’t just a protest. It was a global eruption of defiance.
On 6/14/25, an estimated more than 4 million people flooded the streets of over 2,000 cities worldwide, from San Francisco to São Paulo. It's now being called one of the most significant coordinated demonstrations in modern history.

Smart analysis of the No Kings protests estimates roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across America yesterday. The anti-Trump resistance is unprecedented, and exceeds his first term.

As I’ve often said, he needs the smallest circle possible because the things he expects his peons to do require ripping out one’s soul first, and not many are willing to do that with the alacrity, thoroughness or finality Trump requires.

Thankfully there _isn’t_ a Karoline Leavitt under every rock.
Donald Trump is relying on the same officials to fill multiple jobs—four in Marco Rubio’s case. Whether that’s because Trump can’t or won’t find others, the result is dangerous, @dgraham.bsky.social writes in The Atlantic Daily.

Stunning. May was brutal for Trump in federal court: 96% loss rate ⚖️. Even GOP-appointed judges have ruled against the admin 72% of the time. District courts are doing their job defending the Constitution. Soon the Supreme Court may be the only court unwilling to defend the rule of law.

Apocalyptic scenes from Kyiv overnight.

Russia sent in 250 strike drones & ballistic missiles. 8 cities attacked & ALL civilian targets - colleges, shops, homes.

History shows that weakness only emboldens the aggressor & Trump’s strategy with Putin has been a catastrophe.

Last night Russia attacked a European capital with ballistic missiles and hundreds of drones. Today the story barely registers in international news headlines.
Western normalization and acceptance of Russian atrocities in Ukraine is what makes them possible.
