Welcome home, #CasperCat! I’ve put Casper in a three-tier cat cage so he can have his own space while adjusting. When he explores the upper tiers, he’ll find a dark padded bed with a heated pad.

Huge thanks to @selenahoy.bsky.social for her help at the vets today ❤️ (and for teaching me cat rescue)

The Question of Missions
open.substack.com/pub/1000word...

"today I must write about...all the journalists who were killed yesterday in Gaza & over the course of the past few years... May their memory be a blessing. But also, what a waste of their beautiful lives. And their mission on this planet."

Thanks for being my date @elizabethtasker.bsky.social
The Asakusa fireworks is an iconic summer event, with crowds so intense that it’s impossible to get cell phone signal.

But @selenahoy.bsky.social snuck me an incredible invite to a media event on the rooftop of the OMO3 Hoshino hotel, with live music 🎷 and sushi 🍣 . And that… was staggeringly epic.

I wrote about blueberries, one of my son’s core twice a day foods. And our global food webs.

Opinion: Are tariffs going to obstruct our access to blueberries?
In a world so connected, it shouldn’t be difficult to keep shelves stocked with one of the few foods my son eats. Trump might manage it anyway.

Trying this once more. I'm still looking for Best New Poets 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2023. Perhaps your local library has it? All I need is a photograph of the acknowledgement pages (usually it's only 2 pages).
Please, please, please, I need your help!
(it's for next year's rankings...)
Does anyone have a copy of Best New Poets 2016, 2019, 2022, 2023 and/or 2024?
If not, could you please retweet?
Thank you so much! 🙏

One of my favorite movement thinkers, L.A. Kauffman, has started a newsletter about organizing and strategy in the current moment. Her first post, on spreading courage, is well worth the read!
A major advantage of the decentralized resistance we’ve seen since Trump took office: A movement with this many nodes and leaders is very difficult for even the most determined autocrat to shut down.

I interviewed a lot of locals for my latest piece at National Geographic.

Here's what locals love about Japan
From subtropical islands to chilled-out ski resorts, there are so many places in Japan that don't suffer from the overtourism that's challenging more popular areas.

Costco on a Sunday is a blood sport. Especially the cafe. People putting their train seat getting prowess to work. Cutthroat.
