How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Unfortunately still true bsky.app/profile/adam...
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

True story. Institution where I work substituted emergency exit signs with qr codes and thought this was a good idea 😆
I swear this is so true.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Donald Trump is using federal agents to stoke fear and violate constitutional rights — all with the aims of expanding his control and sending military troops to our cities.

It’s unlawful and un-American. We must all stand up and speak out against fanning the flames of violence.

When a public figure is assassinated you have to be respectful, which is why Charlie Kirk spoke so respectfully about Martin Luther King Jr.

The Brits laying out the red carpet for El Presidente is both completely expected and utterly disgusting

The past few days have been a really interesting chapter in my reawakening. Trying to brush away some of the most racist commentary of the past decade as “politics” or “differences of opinion” has really confirmed how poisoned the culture is. Nobody will ever cop to this particular type of pathology

Condemn me if you want, but it's possible to think it was wrong for someone to kill Kirk but also think he was a terrible person who said very hateful things. I am disturbed by how anyone who is killed has to be talked about in the most glowing terms even if they're of very questionable morality.

I'm sorry, people are posting about how 9/11 brought us together. That lasted about 2 days until Bush started looking for the "enemy". I understood why people were angry but we immediately villified Muslims of any kind. The drum beat of war started and it was a terrible thing to witness.

No one in this country—documented, undocumented—should be taken this way. That they snatched a disabled military veteran who’s a citizen gives up the whole game: they took a young man for fitting their color profile, not because he was any of the categories of people they claim they’re looking for.
🚨NEW: When ICE raided a Californian farm yesterday, they snatched & disappeared a disabled US veteran who was in his car.

They smashed his window, peppered sprayed him & dragged him to the floor.

Listen to his wife & sister here, distraught. No-one will tell them where he is.

This is not news. It's obvious.
Some officials within the Trump administration are embracing the idea of ICE as a new “secret police,” trolling and sharing memes about the agency’s brutal deportation tactics and liberal outrage.
ICE's 'Secret Police' Are Horrifying. Team Trump Is Laughing
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) are being compared to the "secret police," and some in the Trump administration are embracing the term.

It physically sickens me that there are “Americans“ (spelled M-A-G-A-t-s) that are celebrating this.
“These detainees are living in cages. The pictures you have seen don't do it justice. They are essentially packed into cages. 34 detainees per cage.”

The media is really pushing the obit for this guy..it feels singularly out of touch to not see that none of us is feeling super sentimental about "the presidency" past or present right now.

"Libs need to be much MUCH more petty and vindictive"

WE should be stoking coals of rage of marshall being forced off the bench so thomas could be seated.

I cannot believe every dem doesn't simmer with rage over 2000!

We hear that immigrants are "freeloaders," yet they're being arrested at their workplaces and LA's economy is floundering without them.

Hello?

why are Americans so fickle?
www.axios.com/2025/07/11/u...

immigration should have been supported since Day 1. the entirety of the US is built upon immigration.
Americans warm to immigration as Trump ramps up deportations: Gallup
The share of Americans who said they want less immigration dropped to 30% from a 2024 high of 55%.

It's only take 25 years and about 25 covert military operations for the American public to catch on.
unlike with bush after 9/11 and even in the early months of the iraq war, the american people are not rallying to trump on iran. only maga (and the media) are buying it. americans dont want us doing this shit and theyre not falling for trump's spin.

I know it's super early, but here's what I want from 2028 Democratic presidential candidates: how they plan to rebuild what's been destroyed, how they intend to hold the fascists accountable, and how they plan to make sure it never happens again, including new restrictions on presidential authority.
