Last week, SCOTUS stood up for its right to engage in judicial review of executive branch decisions. This week it's Congress' turn & at least a few representatives seem inclined to insist that when they pass a law, they mean business. Learn about inherent contempt: open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

It looks like the Constitution may need a further amendment, “Laws only apply to the poor”. What a terrible example to set for your own country and the world at large. They really just don’t care. 🤷‍♂️

I do wish more candidates and elected Dems would do this.
This has always been a Bluesky-first campaign. But as of today, we will no longer be using Twitter. At all.

And I'm calling on other candidates to follow suit.

If refusing to comment is enough to kill a story, then the government now has veto power over journalism.
That’s what CBS normalized last night — and it should scare everyone.

Pulling a finished investigation because the administration refused to comment isn’t journalism. It’s submission.

As a historian I've looked at hundreds of thousands of pages of government documents. And I just have to say that aside from being obviously illegal and clearly suggestive of some major crime, this “redaction” business is not a position in which serious people or serious governments find themselves
There is no basis to withhold these images under the clear terms of the Epstein Files Transparency Act. None.
WOW: The DOJ has DELETED an image from its release of the Epstein files that shows photos of Trump in a drawer.

Yesterday, we noted that this image — file 468 — likely slipped through the cracks while officials were attempting to hide materials pertaining to Trump.

Now, it’s gone.

In English we know it as “Carol of the Bells,” but the melody arises from a Ukrainian folk tradition of songs welcoming the new year and summoning the forces of nature to meet human labor and bring prosperity.
Do listen.
I wrote about the history here: snyder.substack.com/p/o-generous...
Another beautiful Shchedryk performance amidst ruins.

It was set in what used to be a DTEK thermal power plant — now destroyed by russia.

The contrast between russia’s destructive nature and the Ukrainian will to create beauty even in the darkest times is palpable.

Let past be prologue.

Trump should wind up just like Saddam Hussein did.
In 1990, Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait for their oil.

In 2025, Donald Trump wants to invade Venezuela for their oil.

Different dictator. Same playbook.
