There are real people on the end of these grants. Rust belt autoworkers. Great Plains farmers and roughnecks. Coal communities looking to a new economic future.

It’s genuinely heartbreaking. They don’t have do this — the money is already obligated — but I guess they enjoy destroying lives.

It's astonishing how wide the battery curve has gotten in California.

Last Tuesday, batteries consistently supplied more than 20% of demand for 4 hours from 6pm to 10pm.

Price signals are working well.

Get a heat pump, get a job installing insulation or selling EVs, go to local council meetings in support of bike lanes or solar parks or dense housing near public transport. Run for political office, or at least vote. Recommend flight-free holiday destinations to others. (Delete as applicable).

my takeaway from climate week nyc is that "climate storytelling" is a little too much "we must reimagine our deepest souls in relationship to mother nature and the moral abyss of the polycrisis into which we must now stare" and not enough "ok but get a heat pump"

I just now learned that at least three people were killed, and a dangerous hazmat situation is underway in central Arizona, where flash flooding tore through the towns of Globe and Miami over the past few days.

I guess if we don't talk about our climate crisis there is no climate crisis.
