Why are y'all still on twitter?

Let's stop pretending it's for altruistic reasons, at least.

In my state here in Australia we nominally "banned" it but completely carved out massive holes for religious exemptions, and STILL our conservative party booked at the passing of the legislation...

Conversion therapy remains legal when done by religious clergy but this would allow licensed therapists to engage in the abusive practice. Once they legalize it, the next step is to normalize it and then mandate it. The end goal is the eradication of LGBTQ identity to fulfill their eugenicist goals.

The Supreme Court appears ready to side with Trump in bringing back “gay conversion therapy.”

This practice involves physically abusing teenagers to try to turn them heterosexual, including with electric shocks and chemically-induced nausea.

For the record, literally zero people believe in unitary executive theory.

Some people believe in unitary Republican executive theory but that’s absolutely not the same thing.

You ever realise Olivia de Havilland lived through both the Spanish Flu AND Covid.
soundandtense.bsky.social
Olivia de Havilland could have watched the first talkie, the first color film, the first 3D film, the first televised film, the first home video and the first streaming film and probably still would've smacktalked her sister through every viewing

I mean the literacy on the genre is wildly bad, cause a bunch of people got mad at Glass Onion for being different to Knives and they wanted a cosy winter manor set movie again, which means their ONLY solid reference for Whodunnits is KNIVES OUT itself!

You can almost feel the tangible distaste when people talk about going to the effort of seeing a movie they didn't end up liking, and like, bro, just stop watching movies, they don't *have* to be a part of the internet discourse...
shaneanderson.bsky.social
Seeing a bad or messy movie is not a waste of time. If you only like The Movies when you see ones you like, then you don't love The Movies as an activity, you just enjoy certain ones...
shaneanderson.bsky.social
I am not exempt from this, either.

Refusing to do Star ratings or rankings and moving away from the whole horse-race Sportsbet side of The Awards Season™️ was a deliberate move to realign my moviegoing with the passion for the medium.

I love talking about movies but its always a secondary activity to Watching and Experiencing them. The good and the bad.

I worry social media had reversed that, where being a part of Movie Discourse (and worse contrarians within it!) has become the Priority and Experiencing them, secondary.

Saw a negative review of Knives Out and Glass Onion that was essentially "movies like this shouldn't be about contemporary issues in the real world" and what are we doing here?

Does anyone actually like movies anymore?

I've been working in sketchbooks more as part of a class assignment; here are some of my recent sketches 👉👈 I've been trying to draw what comes to me in the moment, and not worry too much about the output or making everything perfect, but also put time into each to make it feel 'done' as a sketch.
Graphite and white charcoal sketch on toned paper of a woman with stylized hair Graphite and white charcoal sketch on toned paper of a figure with a stylized owl headdress. The wings of the headdress cover the figure's eyes. A graphite sketch of a a face surrounded by a sphere of churning, splashing water A graphite sketch of a beared man with a sword plunging through his forehead and out his chin (in a stylized, non gory way).

Fuck Gavin Newsom. I will never vote for him and you shouldn't either.
Excerpt from an article discussing LGBT+ protections in California legislation. It states that Governor Newsom neither signed nor vetoed certain bills. One bill strengthened protections under Sen. Scott Wiener’s “State of Refuge” law. The highlighted portion reads: “At least four bills directly addressed trans protections,” followed by examples such as healthcare and patient confidentiality, streamlining legal name and gender changes, nondiscrimination in health insurance, and inclusive homelessness programs.

I don't know who needs to hear this but playing with AI tech all the time is not "getting to know how it works" that's like huffing a bucket of cocaine as a means of "scientifically testing" the purity.

AI is designed to melt your brain and make you love it cause it's shiny.
