Freddie Mercury didn't go into the studio and nail the vocals for "The Show Must Go On" in one take while dying of AIDS for you to despair and give up now. Take the time you need, but then get up and get back out there.

The show must go on.

I used to have an incredible Shelby Foote impression. Then I met him, shortly before he died, and there was something so unbearably sad about him, I couldn't do it again.
hwatevah one mahht say for Lee and his ordahs, and this and that military wisdom and so on, one must agree that Pickett's chahge was ah prahme example of "livin mas". unfortunately for the men undah his command it also led to dyin mas

@grantleybuffalo.bsky.social does your band need a new song?
If I had a band or a label, I would do a punk cover of "No More Kings" from Schoolhouse Rock. And then I would gather a bunch of people to write a whole album of next-generation Schoolhouse Rock songs, with songs about Social Security and Medicaid and NOAA. I am not kidding in the least.

Thinking a lot about one of my older brothers who, like so many lost and disaffected white men, bought hard into MAGA and how he has a child with a lot of special educational needs and how that will all play out now.

Watched the Ted Lasso finale and wept myself clear into a doozy of a headache. There's a lot I don't love about the third season but that ending is perfection.

Why don't I trust compliments? Because while yes I have low self esteem, there are things I legitimately suck at. I know enough about sewing to know I'm not good. But when you immediately rush in to say "noooo you're great at sewing" I know you're a liar.

Did I *need* to buy a reversible Bill & Ted bomber jacket? Absolutely not. But it was on sale and features Alex Winter in a crop top and after screeching about Alex Winter in a crop top in The Lost Boys during a department meeting yesterday, it felt like the universe was telling me I needed it.

I haven't watched the Twin Peaks finale (s2 e22) in years and 1) it is still as upsetting now as it was then and 2) I'm embarrassed I didn't clock (what I take to be) the reference to the final credits in the final credits of Pearl.

I find that horror is more important in times of unrest.

Many people prefer the horrors of fiction over the horrors in the real world.

In fiction, there's an end. There's a resolution. There's closure, no matter how horrific.

We don't get that kind of comfort in the real world.

Dear contractors, I don't give a 💩 that you don't like the paint colors for our bathroom. Keep it to yourselves. Especially when your client is in earshot.

This experience has been so shocking to realize how rude people can be in other people's homes.

This is low on my priorities of rage right now but I'm always deeply disappointed in how many liberal folks I know devolve into body shaming, (prison) rape "jokes", transphobia and homophobia about fascists and bigots. They will tell you it's because "[asshole x] would hate it".

There's a recording of Raul Esparza singing Cohen's "Hallelujah" on YouTube and 1) how the fuck do you sing with that kind of emotion and still nail the song and 2) how did he capture a decade ago how I am feeling right now

The moments they decide to bring in the main musical theme of Twin Peaks so often takes my breath away. It's so clear this is a story about goodness persevering. Why else would the music swell like that when Harry presents Coop with his very own fly fishing lure?

I joined the David Lynch worldwide meditation last Monday and I turned on the Twin Peaks score to do it. I spent most of the time crying but now, now whenever I hear the Twin Peaks theme, part of my soul goes ragdoll. I drop a bunch of tension and now I'm re-hooked on this beautiful show.
