The Winnipeg General Strike was the largest strike in Canadian history.
For five weeks in 1919, 30,000 workers brought Winnipeg to a halt.
The strike changed Canadian history forever.
This is the story of that strike.

Forget 24 hour libraries, I want library branches (open normal hours) with social workers, nurses, and psychologists on staff.

They have a point, but switching him out for another person of similar values isn't going to make much of a difference. I wouldn't trust anyone currently well known in the CPC as PM. They are all too beholden to the far-right for my liking. They should never have let the Reforms into the fold IMO.

To fully appreciate how people can live in an absolute information free bubble, know that there were parents in Alberta who sent their kids to school today; some blissfully ignorant, some because of language barriers.

Also know the striking teachers sorted it out for parents.

Unpaid.

I’m seeing some pretty weird takes on the 20% cuts at Imperial Oil.

“It’s Ottawa’s fault!”

“It’s Danielle’s fault!”

O&G majors have been downsizing, cost cutting and even pulling out of AB for years. Automation and weakening oil prices are contributing factors. It’s the nature of the business. 🤷🏼

I’m seeing a number of School Trustee candidates avoid direct questions about any links they have to Take Back Alberta by stating they don’t know who they are

Even if I take the answer as honest & not obfuscation, I can’t vote for someone who is that oblivious to threats to education in Alberta.

Why do headlines say "norms shattered" when what is meant is "laws broken" or "Constitution violated"?

Canadian random person here:

In Canada, insurance companies share your private medical information using codes via a US third party to "blackball" you so when you are declined for e.g. life insurance with 1, you'll be declined with them all.

Privacy safeguards are also needed for Canadians
