The ICE deaths we're not talking about

Trump's biggest concentration camp in Texas is rocked by 3 deaths in 33 days - one deemed 'homicide' after a violent encounter with guards. The ICE detention death rate is 10X (!!) Biden's final year

People are dying in Trump’s squalid concentration camps | Will Bunch
People are dying in ICE detention facilities at nearly 10 times the rate of the Biden years. It will likely get worse.

Yesterday, I drove refugees that had been shipped off to Texas all the way back home to St. Paul

Seeing them reunite with their families reminded me this is their home.

So keep sending them to Texas. I’ll keep driving ‘em back and introducing them to Bucc-ee’s and KC barbecue along the way.

Trump said NATO has never come to the aid of the US. As a Canadian, I can say that is a shameless lie. As part of NATO, Canada came to the aid of the US in Afghanistan. We alone lost 159 members of our Armed Forces.

I think people underestimate how big this is. Like a city-wide strike is not something that has happened in the US for nearly 100 years
there are a bunch of big names on this list, including multiple beard award winners, and some places i never would have guessed in a hundred years (the malt shop?!) and i'm genuinely floored and delighted to see so many participants

Definitely worth poking your head into the report, which is much less about current or ongoing threats (like data centres, which understandably aren't a focus in this context) and more about the massive irreversible failures we should be learning to avoid

Folks are realizing that we can have a national party that represents our values, weaves our movements together and - for starters - pushes Carney to do way better on climate, housing, healthcare, Palestine.

🧵Canadian friends: if you want to vote for the next leader of the NDP, you have *just one week left* to buy a (cheap) party membership.

After that, there will be a big English debate and lots of media coverage, but it will be too late to have a say.

Only members can vote for leader.

A high school classmate of mine, Chad Horn, is in this (6 from L, 3 from B). Still surreal that someone I had classes with was killed in a stupid, aimless conflict for an immature, ungrateful, partner like the US.

Jack Layton ("Taliban Jack" the media screamed) was right: we never should have gone.
After the World Trade Center was attacked (just four miles from Trump Tower), more than 40,000 Canadians in uniform fought alongside their U.S. allies in Afghanistan.

More than 2,000 Canadians were wounded.

These 158 didn't make it home.

And now this guy is giving lectures on gratitude.
