#Seabirds are among the most threatened group of birds globally. You can help their #conservation by carrying out simple #biosecurity measures such as checking your bag & boat for signs of invasive predators before travelling to a seabird island. Look out for chew marks, entrance holes & droppings.

Puffins vs Brown Rats = not a fair fight!
Our seabirds evolved their breeding strategies long before rats arrived in the UK, they have no natural defence against mammalian predators.
Seabirds need these islands to remain rat-free to survive, rats can and will thrive almost anywhere!

At RSPB NI, we remain concerned about the current state of agri-environment policy in Northern Ireland and spoke to BBC NI about this.

The withdrawal of the Environmental Farming Scheme (EFS) without a fully functioning replacement has left many farmers in limbo.

This is an area that is home to sensational wildlife – from Little Terns at the coast to Black Grouse and Hen Harriers on the moors. If the Glyndwr National Park goes ahead it must have a strong focus on driving nature recovery and tackling climate change.

2/ Natural Resources Wales advised action in 2023, but releases of Red-legged Partridges & Pheasants continue unchecked, putting wildlife at risk. Deadlines for licensing have been missed - twice. Why is Welsh Gov so slow to act?

1/ Over 2 MILLION non-native birds released every year into the Welsh countryside, without proper controls or oversight, causing harm to the natural environment.  Time is running out – call on the Welsh Government to licence these releases now!
