The problem with Marxist-Leninist style communism is that it seeks to convert the state into basically a giant singular monopoly corporation. Think ACME in the Looney Tunes cartoon shows, but with GUNS.

All ethics I feel boils down to 2 things: first, do no harm; second, respect others' agency. Both of these are to be interpreted in a "do not perpetrate" sense. Defensive harm, and restraint of a perpetrator who has used their agency to initiate harm, are different.

I have noticed a seeming contingent of rather progressivey-lefty-activisty types who also appear to be endorsing alt med conspiracy theories like anti-vaxx, anti-mask theories. I don't think these pseudo/anti science theories do good to the causes. What do you say?

Mixing leftist/progressive politics with far-right or right-hatched conspiracy theories - even if "just a bit" - I don't think is a very good brew, and may even be dangerous. Esp. if some of the cited sources are from Supremacist Racists.

Criminal justice should be about making reparations for victims and healing communities more than about trying to "punish" someone so much that they are utterly destroyed and broken - only to be released again on that same community.
Oh yeah and if there's no victim it shouldn't be a crime.

This was *conservative* in 1962. Admittedly in UK, not USA, but still. Think about this. And this is simply regulation on capitalism. It's still capitalism. Yet this is apparently "dangerous as hell from 'unintended consequences'" and will "leave everyone jobless" according to some today.

PSA to my friends in California near the fires: breathing in wildfire smoke is really bad for you (even if it’s not super thick where you are) but if you have face masks (N95, KN95, etc) those can help a lot
