Crucial is shutting down — because Micron wants to sell its RAM and SSDs to AI companies instead. It’s already getting hard to build an affordable PC, and the exit of the longstanding provider of consumer memory is going to make that even more challenging www.theverge.com/news/837594/...

“California Love” turns 30 today

Excellent @theagilmore.bsky.social gig tonight at St Pancras Old Church. Great music in a venue with a capacity of about 120-150 and fine acoustics. And a nice simple journey home, too.

Contact us if you have been affected by the policy changes of Girl Guiding or the Women's Institute. This could be as an individual, or because you lead a local Brownie group who don't want this policy change. We want to help protect trans inclusion.

It's all groups who explicitly support women. Have women in their charter. And do not, themselves, want to exclude trans women.

Those targeting these groups are not interested in protecting and supporting women.

This.

It's true of Girlguiding, and it's true of the WI too.

These are not conservative organisations who've wanted an excuse to exclude trans folk, they are inclusive organisations who've fought to support them before, allies who are only doing this because the legal situation forces them to.

"I spoke to one 80-year-old woman who has been in our organisation for decades, who said it was one of the greatest experiences of her life, and the only place in her 80 years where she’s been treated as a woman with respect.”

What does this do for women's rights?

It's horrific watching this play out, in exactly the same step by step way the trans community has been warning about for so many years now.
We're watching the wholesale burning of every scrap of dignity afforded to trans people in the UK, their rights, their medical services, their employment, their place within society, their bodily functions.

It is a disgrace, and a disgusting stain on the government and media of this country.

The Women's Institute has been forced into excluding trans women too
"Not doing so would leave us at risk of costly legal challenge and potential regulatory action from the Charity Commission. We have a public duty to ensure our charity is not in breach of the law."

if you genuinely want to argue that the Equality Act, when introduced, intended to make unlawful an approach to trans inclusion that has existed *since the 1970s*, I absolutely cannot take you seriously

Setting aside the whys of Guiding and WI doing this and to what extent they're forced, it's now pretty beyond doubt that this is a campaign to deliberately render trans life in the UK impossible.
The article explicitly notes WI had had a trans-inclusive policy *since the 1970s*!
Seems there has been some co-ordination.
