You've only got one Mum... yeah, so imagine what it takes to cut them out.

It's never a decision that is made flippantly. And never until almost all hope is lost.

What about your kids never knowing their grandparents. Yes, Karen, that's the big motivation for estrangement.
Just a quiet, sad little PSA.

If someone is estranged from their parents, please please don’t give them the ‘but they’re your mum/ dad’

They were their mum / dad when they did the worst imaginable things to their own kids.

It’s not up to the children to make it ok. It’s up to them to live well.

I've been in situations where I've had to go through messages to save a company several million pounds. Where an email found has stopped a lawsuit. Where it's proven harassment. Companies need that level of accountability.

You don't, so don't let work into your devices.
Normal and great 🫩

> Microsoft triggered a viral furor when it revealed a Teams update to tell your company when you’re not at work. Now Google has done the same. Forget end-to-end encryption. A new Android update means your RCS and SMS texts are no longer private.

Let's Make Ramen is a fantastic book, that you should get and use regularly.

I can only assume that Dumplings will be just as good.
My friend from college, Sarah Becan, has cowritten/illustrated a bunch of comic book cookbooks. Let's Make Dumplings is one, but they're all fun!

Damnit, I can't add mine in thread.

The Dairy Book of Home Cookery:

Forget the fancy stuff- this isn't Michelin star. It is just a book of warmth and comfort.

What problem is reducing juries aiming to fix?
@mrjamesob.bsky.social

What impact would this have on Jury Nullification - allowing juries to acquit the guilty because it's an unjust law?

Whenever xenomorphs are mentioned, I think about how lucky I was to experience this at the Troc, during the time they were using blanks. Went many times never figured out when they put the actor in to get abducted from the lift.

This is your seasonal reminder that squash can be served hot and spiced as an alternative to mulled wine.

Or the winter ribena if it's back in the shops.

This is actually a great idea for multiple reasons. AWS has become too important to the structure of the web itself to persist as a private entity.
Me about to piss off a bunch of capitalists: If Bezos doesn’t want to pay his fair share in corporate taxes, I don’t see why we shouldn’t nationalise Amazon and make it a subsidiary of the post office.

A. Honest.

Now can all Events, Things and Problems just wait until I finish my TBR pile. It will only be a few weeks, and absolutely not until the heat death of the universe.

This and "AI psychosis" which is on of the new pipelines to becoming a green inker are quite a concern.
OpenAI says they aren't liable for the suicide of a user their chat bot urged to kill himself because suicide is a violation of the TOS
Additionally, OpenAI argues its not liable because Raine, by using ChatGPT for self-harm, broke its terms of service

If you must use AI, this is an important thing to do. Use a subject you know well to see what convincing insanity it can come up with.
Also I check to see what it hallucinates about me and/or my work, because that's a useful way to gauge how little to trust it on subjects where my domain knowledge is less complete than it is about, well, me.

I've been comfort watching Mythbusters again.

I'm absolutely doomed. I wouldn't be history, I'd be geography.
You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

I think I win. Awesome lesbian obsessed with power tools + genderfluid marathon runner with talon fingernails? I'll be fine.

This isn't AI slop, but it has probably been ingested and used to create recipes.

It is originally from a book written by Penn and Teller. It has broken containment.

I'm pretty sure he would not have smashed the phone if she was cis-gender. Which IMO makes it a hate crime.

Also, remember, you only need to be perceived as having that attribute for it to be a hate crime. Bathroom police are transphobic even when they "accidentally" target the wrong people.
Father Ted co-creator Graham Linehan has been cleared of harassing a transgender activist, but was found guilty of criminal damage to her mobile phone.

Indoor climbing is £13 for an hour. The local laser tag is £6.50 a game. Swimming over £5 per person (2 hour session). Scouts is over subscribed. Roller disco is £8 for 2 hours

Don't forget most you have to attend with them. Activities add up so quickly.

But strangely unpaid and unable to discipline those who consistently refuse to follow the document.

I wouldn't be too disappointed if I bought the Stingray ttrpg and it was these, not Gerry Anderson models.
currently, I'll be honest, I'm not sure how to market these but they were so brilliant I had to add them to the catalogue

This one's for you @mrjamesob.bsky.social Machine learning is really useful. LLMs on the other hand are just Clippys more sneaky brother.
Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪

Proteus Vex is the kind of story that makes me read 2000AD. I didn't like it at first, and I found it a little difficult to get into the universe properly.

Stuck with it because 2000AD never has bad stories- just things that are not for me. Then it just clicked and it's fantastic.
Has there ever been a more alien comic than Proteus Vex? This is the least human comic you’ll ever read, filled with very very strange creatures doing very very strange things.

By Mike Carroll, Henry Flint and Jake Lynch, let’s crack open and explore 2000 AD’s weirdest series! >>>>

This is a marvellous idea. I've been toying with the Idea of donating blood again (had bad reaction last time.. ages ago) and this would help me care less about that.

(It was "just" fainting shortly after tea and biscuits and needing help home. Trivial in scheme of things and probably my fault)
I'll be at CARTOONISTS DRAW BLOOD American Red Cross Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 8AM-1:30PM at Gainesville United Methodist Church 13710 Milestone Court, Gainesville, VA 20155. Blood donors meet local cartoonists and take home a complementary sketch. www.redcrossblood.or...

Between 30 to 54 year olds... @mrjamesob.bsky.social Nah, impossible. I'm smack bang in the middle of your demographic and if that was true, it would mean I'm middle aged.

At least I don't qualify for a Saga holiday yet.

You know the thing that affected me the most @mrjamesob There were no guidelines about who was essential staff or not.

I was IT support for a building that had nobody in it. I basically had to be in case the VPN went down.
