Donald Trump is ordering extrajudicial killings of suspected drug smugglers.

He's vilifying his political opponents and threatening to jail them.

His ICE agents are terrorizing immigrants and firing chemical agents at peaceful protestors.

And some people think he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize?

Of course, given the pressures on local govt. Finance, they need to collect debt where they can.
But anyone can see this has spiralled out of control.
Those with little suffer, while the wealthy do not.

Grimsby man owed £6k council tax after £100 bill spiralled
The government says it is taking action to protect people from “aggressive collection practices”.

I see the bros are all over LinkedIn this week, clutching their cappuccinos and defending Revolut’s Nik Storonsky for fucking off to Dubai, arguing we need to tax startup founders less.

Because apparently if we don’t subsidise billionaires, they’ll flee.

I got plenty of scorn for this article- but I stand by what I wrote. This is best chance yet to end the current slaughter, free the hostages, and create space, and opportunity for a better future for Gazans. Do I trust all parties, no! Do, I think it has risks, gaps and flaws, yes! But, still 🙏🤞🙏🧵

Cynics will call me naive and stupid. But, it’s always easier to tear things down, and find fault, than try to work through fiendish problems. Of course it lack details, is fraught with risk, and will be attacked by all sides. But, this sickening conflict has to stop. bylinetimes.com/2025/09/30/w...
'Why I Support Trump's Gaza Plan'
Former UK Foreign Office diplomat Alexandra Hall Hall makes the case for why America's 'long shot' strategy could be the best hope of delivering peace

The rules apply to any non-EU citizens not covered by free movement law, not just British citizens. All these possible penalties for overstay already exist.

Brexity folks are allowed to worship British border controls; but the EU is not supposed to enforce theirs against Brits.

People breaking immigration law can be deported. EVEN IF THEY'RE BRITISH.

The UK is in collective denial about the damage a populist nationalist government could do given thd absence of checks and balances in our system. Not sure why, since we had a pretty close run a few years ago.

As an American watching our best & most crucial institutions crumble in less than a year under Trump, I suggest you make as many of these changes now, while you can.
We didn’t, obviously.
simonpease.bsky.social
That was part of it. But I think it was wider than the Europe issue. As for the old blokes trying to be loyal, that was part of the problem. Too many people support parties without examining why they do.

Every minute of delay brings more misery in Gaza. But we now have a chance to deliver.

We call on all parties to agree to a ceasefire.

Give us the access. Let us work.

Right down to how the "OMG the young uns aren't going out anymore" stuff never quite accounts for how much cheaper it was for the young uns to go out a decade ago

No, it's not. It's all a lie. The blunt truth is across the 1991, 2001, 2011 and 2021 Census *every* ethnic group in the UK has become *less* geographically segregated and *all* groups, majority and minorities, are more likely to interact with people not like them.

Outstanding piece by Stephen Daisley.

Ethnicity is no barrier to Britishness - it's culture and integration.

That means 'smaller cohorts and aggressive integration policies' - and tackling the institutions that 'have amplified grievance narratives and radical anti-Western ideologies'.

The thing about crashing a tank through a museum of antiquities is that you don't have to be a particularly skilled driver to do a lot of damage.

It's difficult at times to hold both "this admin is doing lasting and serious damage to our institutions and the globe" and "this admin is full of the most bafflingly incompetent idiots you've ever seen who fall over themselves like a Vaudeville act constantly."

The duality of man is incredible.

I keep asking myself, "have we reached peak Trump"? My answer is, "no, not by a long way". And I think we all underestimate the impact peak Trump will have, not just on US politics, but on our own, and others.

Many different responses to this. My view is that the Conservative party ceased to be “centre right” some time ago, but many of those who voted for it didn’t notice. I’m not convinced it is a bad thing for them to put their votes elsewhere.

Pochinoccio strikes again.

Reform UK’s @SarahForRuncorn has removed a video about Runcorn Boxing Club after lying about her helping getting funding for them.

Statement by the club has shown her to once again have made up things about representing her local area.

The UAE is an authoritarian autocracy, a petro-state with no income tax for citizens, to bribe them for the lack of democratic voice or free speech

It is 85% migrant, a segregated society with a ban on integration in principle and practice, few rights, equal opportunities, nor voice for incomers

Four parties within a 5 point swing of first place and five parties on 12% plus.

This would be pure chaos under first past the post.
