So do liberal pundits like yourself ever look into the actual political positions of a person? You‘re promoting the Japanese version of MAGA all because Takaichi is a woman.

sanae takaichi is, importantly, also a fascist

Sanae Takaichi is set to become Japan’s first female prime minister. As of July 2025, 65 countries have had a woman serve as either president or prime minister. She makes it 66. Why is America so far behind with zero?? Let’s pass #ERA and elect a woman. Tell me who you’d support.

If you were around in 1933, you’d have been saying stuff like “We need to support the Nazi crackdown on, as they put it, ‘persons who indulge in unnatural sexual practices,‘ if we are ever going to defeat the Nazis!”

Once again, socialism is worker control over the means of production. In other words it would mean all those migrant farmworkers being rounded up and deported would instead take or be given control of the farms. A rural landlord and businessperson being subsidized by tax dollars is not socialism.

When you realize how long it takes for a single tree to become fully mature and how many trees it takes to be productive... This is just one more method of *generational* violence.

9/ Hegel’s legacy splits in two. One line turns pro-imperial: British Idealists like Edward Caird cast empire as reason’s outward growth, a moral duty to “raise barbarous races” toward civilisation. The other anti-colonial: C. L. R. James reclaims Hegel’s dialectic through the Haitian Revolution.

So-called #genAI means the abolition of the future through the proliferation of endless streams of stochastically rendered generic pasts. Having turned large parts of the cultural archive into training data, it now traps us in a foreverized pastness, a 24/7 nostalgia for a past that never existed

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

Core 1A speech.

With cameras rolling, they’re sniping priests for sport.

starting to think much of the “how democracies end”/“how autocracies are born” literature could benefit from considering the actual existence of American law enforcement

Most of you are familiar with Newark mayor Ras Baraka....particularly after his arrest earlier this year trying to enter an ICE facility.

But do you know his father?

Lemme tell you about Leroi Jones 🧵

On this day in 1763, due in part to Pontiac's resistance, the King of Britain issued the Royal Proclamation placing certain limits on westward colonial expansion in North America. This enraged proto-Americans and was one of the causes of the American Revolution (freedom to colonize more quickly).

It truly is the government of landlords and used car dealers because anyone familiar with either of these occupations knows that they are the last bastions of men who, for no reason but their own sloven incompetence, seek out imagined excuse to violate basic contract law and routine regulations.

Not to discount the enormous damage they have done, and still can do, but this really might be one of the dumbest governments in the history of the world.
