Screen presence is a term thrown about but Tel had it on screen and in life. I still remember him at his niece’s wedding, head and shoulders above the rock/theatrical royalty, that baleful gaze, the Sphinx smile. “You are no match for Zod”?Very few film stars today are a match for Terence Stamp.

Saw Slade In Flame (1975) last night. Kermode called it the Citizen Kane of rock movies. Hyperbolic claim, nevertheless, even with important beats missing, it is the work of a top director (Richard Longcraine) who knows what he's doing. And in Don Powell, a missed opportunity for a breakout actor...
