Just a reminder that measles virus is very infectious with one infected individual spreading it to (on average) 12-18 others in a susceptible population.

With vaccination rates below 92% or so, measles is likely to spread extensively and quickly.

My quote of the day

The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just.

Vaccines DO NOT cause autism - there is extensive research showing this. Resurrecting old, discredited, fraudulent work is shameful.

Vaccine-preventable illnesses are serious - this is going to cause real harms.

This is dangerous & disappointing.

I have posted about this before, but...

Researchers at Pitt School of Public Health (with NIH funding) developed Project Tycho where they digitized reportable disease data from across the country going back to ~1900.

I mean, look, I'm not a reporter, so who am I to talk?

But on a day where the president both just called a woman reporter "Piggy" and is celebrating someone who had people bone saw apart one of my colleagues, I might just be a little ready to defend my colleagues and profession.

But that's just me

NC was hit with an ICE storm, first Charlotte & now Asheville and Raleigh.
Looking at this map, I'm curious as to why ICE may be targeting those areas.

This. Across the board.

And if you haven’t seen the efforts of other (friendly) nations recruiting scientists, researchers, and others - you definitely haven’t been paying attention.

This gutting of US research and l science in the public interest may take a generation or more to rebuild.
I had the opportunity to review the work experience and skills of numerous people who were laid off or fired from public health jobs by Donald Trump.

I want every taxpayer to know that the US has lost an immeasurable number of the smartest, most experienced, and hardworking people on the planet.
