This is a wildly ahistorical take that showed up on my timeline. The US has an incredibly long history of inflicting lawless violence around the world, and the war on terror was probably the largest precedent for everything that is currently happening.
America got “the president is killing terrorists, don’t question it” in the 2000s too. But unlike now:
-The US had been attacked
-Al Qaeda was a terrorist group and planned more attacks
-They were in areas the US military did not freely operate, where arrest was risky
-Congress authorized the action

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Started looking at "the lists" today. There are so many records I haven't heard. I all of a sudden felt like I was missing out and needed to hear all these albums people like. I listened to Messa and really liked it. Started listening to some black metal band and got stressed out. Too much info.

I don't think this new Danny Brown album is for me. I was still thinking about going to his show. Then I heard the song "Uncancellable" he did for David Lucas' dumb anti-woke comedy special, and it firmly tipped me over into "not going".

Breaking my rule against posting internal DSA takes on social media to state my opinion on whether DSA should endorse Chi Osse's congressional primary against Hakeem Jefferies. We should only endorse if Osse agrees to publicly refer to his opponent as AIPAC Shakur on a regular basis. Red line.

Today there was an attempted ICE raid in Bensonhurst & community members showed up. Even though NYPD collaborated with ICE by trying to disburse the crowd; community members stood their ground & ICE left without kidnapping a single person per the rapid response groups I'm on. We protect us!

When I was a kid, I saw the "No Cover" sign outside a bar and I thought that it meant that everyone was naked inside, there. My Southern-Baptist-sculpted mind imagined the average adult world as being much more salacious than it turned out to be.
