The more I play of it, the more Fantasy Maiden Wars is creeping up my GOTY shortlist. I expected to like it, but not this much.

The eye exam is the perfect game design. That big E is a great tutorial that teaches you the basic mechanic. But it doesn't baby you and quickly gets hard as they introduce the small and blurry enemies.

Being a rougelite, I think the healthiest approach is to just throw your head at the campaign for a dozen runs like you would with any other and then after inferring some concepts, THEN you look at how the sausage is made. If you overwhelm your brain right away, you sour the learning experience
Every guide for chasing A-ranks has been “just ignore the titles and races because they don’t count for your final ranking”,
But they leave out that getting the
50K/60K/70K/100K/200K fan requirements for Levels and 80 bonus skill points along with the sparks, you might as well do those big G1 races
