We’re seeing the state capture of political parties by fossil fuel companies. They’re putting short term profits ahead of protecting the people and places we love.

We need the moral courage to end this and legislate a duty of care to young people.

This is only going to get worse considering the people Trump has nominated.
Nabil Abu Rudeineh, the spokesperson for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, has said the escalation of settler violence in the occupied West Bank requires an international response, according to the Wafa news agency.

Has anyone done an analysis on the way the genocide in Gaza has affected peoples perceptions of International Law and its enforcement? Or can refer me to some writing?

I’m looking to see if it’s had a significant effect on trust in the current system and the potential consequences of that. 🫶

If we won’t radically reverse course or accept the reality looming before us, then we need to be honest with ourselves that we have always been willing to accept Russia occupying Ukraine.

Because that is really the only other possible outcome.

A very wise college professor once told me:

If you don't know what kind of day you're going to have until you know another person's mood, leave that boyfriend, leave that boss, leave that wife.
Do not EVER, no matter what gender you are, let a man or a woman tell you the limits of what you can do and who you can be.

That is the beginning of death.

NO ONE defines you but you. NO ONE gets to tell you who you are. NO ONE gets to defeat you before the battle begins.

Great points. Important to keep in mind atm. 👇
Still too timely I guess:

The careless use of illiberalism, populism or polarisation has led to a flattening and simplification of the complex nature of politics, pitting an ideal, fantasised version of liberalism against a caricatural, homogenous and exceptionalising 'evil'

I think gambling on elections should be illegal. But we have to make it illegal for wealthy individuals and corporations as well instead of calling it “lobbying” and doing intellectual backflips to justify it
Australia’s big online gambling operators poured at least $240,000 into Facebook ads promoting novelty bets on the US election last week, just weeks before the government is expected to announce its long-awaited plans to restrict wagering ads.
