Ruth Carol Taylor was born December 27, 1931. She was hired as a stewardess for Mohawk airlines in 1957.
She was let go 6months later. She was also heavily involved in the Civil Rights Movement

I was genuinely confused at first because I wondered why the author of a classic study of heavy metal music and culture make would make such a heel turn this many decades into his career. And then I realized that I had somehow gotten Michael *Walzer* and Robert(!) *Walser* mixed up. 🫣😬
unsarcastically: I give credit to Michael Walzer for explicitly saying, in essence, "btw I didn't read any of this and am just gonna vibe it out" in the intro to his racial capitalism article rather than the pretend reading done by most in this genre
We should ask why it’s so easy for terms and concepts like “Heritage American” and “Western Chauvinism” are met with earnest analysis and exploration while academic theory produced by Black scholars are summarily dismissed by people reading introductory texts if that.

The wildest thing to me is that multiple Black people had to die in a manner akin to public spectacles for 2020 to happen and the backlash is being fueled by white guys who can’t sell a screenplay or manuscript.
