Tariffs and trade negotiation is one thing. Threatening to annex a friendly sovereign nation as the 51st state is quite different. As long as Trump is in power, we can never trust the US as a friendly nation.

On 9/11, I was working in downtown Toronto. Many of us stood for hours to donate blood. Turned out it wasn't needed, but at the time, we just wanted to help our neighbours to the south. Would the Americans do the same for us? Not sure anymore. Trump would probably ask for something in return.
