Brilliant keynote from @rdietkus.bsky.social at #sdingov about public services as care.

She also talked about hypernormalisation. This world were living in and what were witnessing is not normal.

“There's wo truths, what we feel in our bodies and what the world insists we perform”
Photo of Rachael speaking. The slide behind her says "the chaos is not normal." With an illustration of a pink elephant.

So many great points being made by Steph Wright on AI in today’s keynote. #sdingov Copilot Agents are here, slowly creeping into our workflows. Local Gov needs more support in how to:

- design for fairness
- mitigate bias
- measure accuracy of agents
- design for human in control

#PublicDesign is an iterative process of generating, legitimising, and achieving policy intent whilst de-risking operational delivery.

3 people on a conference stage sitting in front of an audience, 1 woman with grey hair standing at a lectern speaking, a projected slide on top of them says “defining public design — “Public design is an iterative process of generating, legitimising, and achieving policy intent whilst de-risking operational delivery.
It involves a range of practical, creative and collaborative approaches grounded in citizens' day-to-day experiences of - and relations to - people, objects, organisations, communities and places.”; next to it, a version of a policy cycle

"The machine (of government) is breaking before our eyes and if we're not careful it's going to be dismantled," says @jamestplunkett.bsky.social kicking off #SDinGov.

We'll be looking at how to bring a more curious, humble, and systemic mindset to the work of govt tomorrow afternoon.
