I think one contributing factor to this (along with, not exhaustive: Rubio, Epstein, tv president, just hating Venezuelans) is that Obama actually got Osama. T can't let O have uncontested glory like that.

My hot take? Die Hard is tangentially a Christmas movie, sure, but it's mostly about the anxieties that drove people in the 80s. Financialization, European separatists, Japanese capitalism challenging American dominance, the 'devaluation' of red-blooded traditional jobs by women in the workplace.
