For several months, I’d been taking daily walks after sunset, and the moon has been my companion much of the time. One evening a crescent moon hung over the horizon with Venus glowing brilliantly below it. 1/4

I managed to get this shot with a similar lens, also handheld but only 500mm (and just 49cm long, vs the 60cm of the 1300mm lens), manual focus & manual lighting.
by pure chance this turned out to be the relatively rare black woodpecker, there's only about 50 in the whole country

Fuerteventura's west coast.
